Belkin is one of the most recognisable accessory brands offering products that cover power, connectivity, audio and security products. Belkin creates products that empower people through technology which is especially since the Covid lockdown there products have become even more useful.
Design
The Belkin BOOST↑CHARGE is the latest product to offer us that wireless charging option which is very popular for those who own the latest Apple, Samsung or Huawei device that is Qi-compatible.
The boost↑charge wireless charging stand allows you to quickly start charging this by simply placing your phone on the stand and it will start charging at 10W. What makes this different is the charger also comes with a built-in Bluetooth speaker/microphone making it ideal to watch your favourite show on Netflix show or when you’re having that Friday night Zoom quiz with family as unfortunately we are still in lockdown due to the current pandemic.
The stand comes in two colours black or white in this review I have been sent the black version as you can see in the pictures. The whole stand is made from plastic and comes with 2 rubber strips on the base as this helps keep the stand on your desk and won’t move.
Connected to the frame is a pudding shaped base that has the charging plate and Bluetooth speaker built within. The speaker also has 2x LEDs on either end of the speaker to indicate when the speaker is on.
At the back, you have a speaker power button which when switched on hold for 3 secs and it will start pairing and pairing was like you connect any other device on your phone. This is all finished with a port for the power cable.
Size-wise it won’t take much space on your desk at 110 x 102 x 106 (HxWxD) and weight wise it’s also very lightweight at 110g. The overall design won’t take much space on your desk and the overall style would complement most home office setups.
Performance
The BOOST↑allows you to charge your phone with ease and if the speaker is on when you place your phone on the charger you hear a little ping to indicate your phone on charge. This charger allows you to charge your phone even if your phone has a case on it as long as that case is no more than 3mm in thickness.
The charging stand uses a male DC power connector which did take up a plug point but just that was not a massive issue. The charging slot on the stand I felt was big enough to accommodate most phones I have an iPhone 12 and it still had lots of space on both sides of the stand.
When you place your phone on the charger there is a slight tilt that makes the screen viewable. Ideal for when you’re having that weekly zoom call with friends or family. The main purpose of the device is to charge your phone wireless and is limited to 10W and took about an hour and a half to get from 0% to 50% battery on my iPhone 12.
Speaker wise the audio is transmitted in mono with a max volume at 80dB and this offers an average sound quality I found you get a little echo when watching something on Sky Go but when I put some music on the sound actually felt like it improved slightly.
When using this for a zoom call I found the mic also created a little echo which also affected the overall sound quality of when you’re making calls. However, for the cost of this device, it worked as well as you could expect.
Verdict
The Belkin BOOST↑ is a great little device that allows you to charge your device at the same time as using the speaker for when we have the zoom calls or when you want to watch a film on your phone. I liked the fact you could place your phone in both portrait or landscape mode meaning it becomes a nice addition to your desk.
I found the fact you not only have a 2-year warranty but you also have a £1500 connect equipment warranty meaning Belkin are that confident in their products they will offer that level of protection.
So if you are looking for that ideal companion for your desk or even the kitchen side this is a great option it offers a fast charge of 10W. The speaker not the best on the market but it does provide an acceptable level of sound making it the ideal accessory for your work from home set up
