Groov-e are a brand most known for affordable accessories such as wireless charging pads, Car Mounts and portable audio products such as earbuds and headphones but most products they product have one thing in common they are all affordable under the £100 mark.

In this review, we have had the chance to test out the Groov-e Ultra wireless headphones. They are available for £34.99 from Groov-e.co.uk and come in two colours black or gold. I was lucky to get sent the black version as personally feel the gold variation just does not rock my word at all.

Design

As you might have expected the Groov-e Ultra is made of plastic but for under £40, you should not be expected anything else. They do have a decent build with a satin finish. They look stylish I had no issue wearing these at the time of testing these they actually look good and provided a nice level of comfort.

The earcups offer a nice level of padding and the cup size could be called on-ear if you have larger ears but over-ear if you have smaller ears.

This is paired with a lot of padding on the headband. The cups offer a nice amount of rotation in the earcups and also a nice level of extension on the arms with a firm ratchet mechanism all working together to provide a good level of comfort. These headphones also have a foldable design which is ideal when not in use and you place them in your bag and the foldable design allows you to store them without much space taken.

Inside the cups, they have 40mm drivers which we will discuss the audio quality later. Controls wise everything is located on the right cup you have the power button on the outside top side of the cup and then around the cup, you have the volume controls, USB-C port, 3.5mm jack and pinhole mic.

Performance

The audio quality of the Groov-e Ultra considering the cost they actually sound really good and the size of the cups actually offer a good level of passive isolation. The sound quality you are given a 40mm driver that delivers a deep level of bass which was well handled and actually quite pleasing to the user. The mids lack a little detail but these are under £30. The highs are actually really good which altogether provide decent sound quality. I have tested these listening to a wide range of music and listened to the WresleTalk Podcast and I was more than happy with the overall quality.

You can also answer calls via the 42dB built-in microphone and which offers a very clear call experience. I could hear the call perfectly and the person I was on the phone to had no issues hearing me and this is likely to be where they have positioned the mic.

What you will also like is the fact you can use these headphones wired with the 3.5 mm jack and they also work wireless if you happened to run out of battery that wired option a nice thing to have to continue listening to your music or podcast.

Battery Life

Speaking of battery life the Groov-e Ultra come with 30 hours of playback which is not bad for the price of these and when its time to charge them up you have that USB-C and it will take about 3 hours to recharge which is quite some time but these headphones also offer wireless charging simply place the right cup on the wireless charging pad and bingo it starts charging.

Verdict

Groov-e Ultra Wireless Headphones

The Groov-e Ultra are an affordable option that is well designed and allows you to use them via Bluetooth or wired connection. The audio quality is acceptable considering the price point and the battery life is also very good with 30 hours of playback and the fact you can charge them up wireless is a nice option for an affordable pair of wireless headphones. Its another success from Groov-e for these looking for that affordable everyday option.
