The year 2020 has been a year we won’t forget anytime soon.  We have already had product launches from the likes of Samsung & Apple to name a few.  Well next up was Amazon and they did not disappoint with the announcements of the new Echo smart speaker, Ring Doorbell and even a Ring Drone.

Here at What Gadget we give you the low down on what Amazon are bringing to us.

Echo Fourth-Generation (£99.99; amazon.com)

Amazon Echo is now spherical and for the star wars, fans looks like a death star. This is a complete redesign but maintains the most important part Alexa.  This Amazon Echo features six far-field microphones that will pick up your voice anywhere in the room.  The Microphones are paired with a 3-inch woofer and dual firing tweeters for that vibrant mix that offers a clear sound. This Echo will even listen to how the audio is flowing in the room and adjust the sound for the best mix possible.

This Echo also provides all the extra smart home features as previous models have such as Bluetooth Low Energy, Amazon Sidewalk & ZigBee.  Meaning pairing any of your smart devices can be done even easier.  The Amazon Echo will be available in Charcoal, Glacier White & Twilight Blue and all echos are made from 100% recycled products so your doing your bit to save the planet.

The Amazon Echo £89.99 from Amazon.co.uk available October 22nd

Echo Dot Kids Edition (£59.99; amazon.com)

Amazon has also thought about the little people in your life and have created the Echo Dot Kids Edition. This product matches the same design as the adult version but at a reduction of the cost. The Echo Dot Kids Edition comes in two cool designs Tiger or Panda design. Now I know they are for kids but am sure my fiancee who loves pandas might just want one.

The Amazon Echo Dot Kids Edition offers the chance to create a Kids Profile which allows Alexa to be more child friendly by recognising your child’s voice.  You also get a reading sidekick skill which lets Alexa read along with your child and provides encouragement. With the Covid-19 restrictions happening this could be like having a teacher in the house to help your child. The Amazon Echo Dot Kids Edition also comes with 1 years Kids+ Subscription.

Likely to cost £59.99 when it arrives in the UK.

Echo Show 10 (£249.99; amazon.com)

New to the party is the Amazon Echo Show 10. This device is unique as the screen is on a motor meaning the display can turn towards your voice and use the motor to angle the display towards you. The screen is a 10-inch display with a 13-megapixel camera built-in to the bezel on the front. This could be great for when your cooking in the kitchen and are on a call with a friend or even via video call. You can also play Netflix or Amazon Video on this device meaning it does it all you can make calls and even watch a cooking show all on the Echo Show 10.

For Smart Home users the Echo Show 10 will even be able to move the screen when in sentry mode meaning it can pick up any motion and show you what is happening via an alert. Basically providing a security camera in the home as well.

Amazon Ring Products

Amazon has also introduced the Ring Always Home Cam which is a home surveillance drone that flies around your house and keeps an eye out for any intruders or you can check if you closed that window when you have left the house in a rush.

The Always Home Cam consists of a flying black camera powered by rotor blades that automatically takes off from its stationary white dock if movement is detected in your house. Then the camera streams a live view of what is happening via the ring app on your phone providing you with a notification something is happening.

The Ring Always Home Cam should be available in 2021 for around £195.
