Recently we were contacted with the opportunity products from a brand that really does consider the future of the planet in the shape of MiTEC. They are the first brand in the UK to make their range of accessories from biodegradable mobile accessories.

Why Biodegradable now?

When you think of the UK there is a real push to bring a focus on recycling but as you may know, it’s not always possible to recycle mobile accessories mainly due to them being made of non-biodegradable material. We currently see 83% of electronic waste that ends up in landfills which takes a lot longer to break down. Also, microplastics are actually highly detrimental to the organisms they come in contact with.

So brands like MiTEC see the need to act and have created a range of Biodegradable products to help reduce this risk on the planet that microplastics are doing to the world. These earth-friendly products are made of wheat straw which is a sustainable alternative to plastic. Once landfilled the wheat straw will break down naturally without producing any harm to the earth.

MiTEC also vows to use 100% plastic-free packaging and all the packaging is cardboard which is a sustainable alternative to plastic. This is all part of MiTEC greenshoots initiative to become a fully sustainable brand.

They want a customer to see this stamp and know they are helping protect the earth we live in.

MiTEC MiPOWER Universal USB-A mains charger

The main charger is made of wheat straw which is a sustainable alternative to plastic that is better for the environment. The plug comes with a UK plug to be used in a UK plug socket.

MiTEC MiPower Biodegradable USB-A Charger & Lightning cable Review

The mains charger comes with a powerful 2 Amp output that allows you to use a charging cable that can be either the Lightning, Micro USB & or USB-C charge cable you just need one end of that cable to be USB-A. This will allow you to charge a wide range of products from tablets, mobiles or other products that use a USB cable.  The 2 Amp output allows for 10W output perfect for fast charging and allows for a more powerful energy transfer.

MiTEC MiPower Biodegradable USB-A Charger & Lightning cable Review

As you might expect set-up is simple simply plug into a UK plug socket and plug in the USB cable you need and get charging. What I really like about this mains charger is it comes with built-in protection from over current and over voltage damage to the charger and the device. I was perfectly happy to swap this with my current mains charge and if you are looking for a new mains charger the MiPower USB mains charger offers an excellent mains charger as well as knowing you’re doing your bit to save the planet.

MiTEC MiPower Lightning to USB charge cable

In addition to the main charger, I was sent the Lightning to USB-A charge cable which was really handy as my main phone is an iPhone 12.

This charging cable is also made from wheat straw which is an alternative to plastic but it still offers a quality charging cable that was designed for Apple devices and has been certified product via Apple.

The cable comes in both 1-meter and 2-meter length options making this really useful for both charging and data transmission. The cable comes with a reinforced anti split housing at the tips of the cable creating a robust and resistant build at the weakest points of the cable. MiTEC has tested this anti-split housing 20,000 times with a pull & twist technique testing.

MiTEC MiPower Biodegradable USB-A Charger & Lightning cable Review

I found this cable worked very well and the fact they are designed with reinforced anti-split means this cable will last longer than other cables on the market. Also, the fact that the charging cable is very affordable at under £20 means it will be available for all budgets and the fact when you purchase this cable you are doing a positive in terms of saving the earth I can not fault this cable at all.

In terms of the cable, you can plug this cable into an existing mains charger, plug it into your USB port in the car or purchase a MiPower Mains charger or dual USB Port In-Car Charger available from MiTech.
