Groov-e has recently launched the Music Buds which are a pair of true wireless earphones that cost £24.99. Groov-e have offered a pair of buds that come with Bluetooth 5.0, 11 hours total playback, voice assistant and auto power on/off & True Wireless stereo.

What do I mean by True Wireless?

Well, it basically means the earbuds are disconnected from each other so that means goodbye to cables getting in the way.

Price and availability

The Groov-e Music Buds cost £24.99 and are available via the Groov-e website and I also expect to find them on Amazon soon especially with Christmas around the corner. Making these a great present idea for these on a budget. As let’s face it, 2020 has been a challenge for most.

Design

Design-wise Groov-e has made these buds look very simple with a matt black casing with a button embedded on the front of the bud that has a little circle that is a LED. The LED will flash red & blue when they go into pairing. Once paired you see a blue LED to flash once every few seconds as an indication you are connected.

The buds come with silicone ear tips to add to that comfort but if you are struggling in regards to fit you are given 2 pairs of spare buds in size Small & Large for you to get the ideal fit. You also get given the easy start-up guide & Micro USB cable for charging.

The MusicBuds give you 4 hours playback and that is backed up with a charging case that gives you 7 hours of charge meaning you get 11 hours of playback in total. Considering the price point of these earphones that is quite decent. They will be ideal if you’re looking for a pair of buds for your daily commute. The charging case is also very basic made of plastic with the Groov-e logo printed on the front of a pillbox shaped case that has a Micro-USB port on the back.  Inside the case, you have two mini magnets that hold the buds in the case and just passed the shake test.

Branding on the top of the case. Apart from that basic design.

The case has a cheap plastic feel inside 2 magnets each side to hold the buds in the case and charge them when not in use.

When you turn these buds on for the first time you will notice you will have to press the button on each bud and then you will hear a ladies voice which says power on or Power off depending on what you’re doing. Once you have done this the once and pair the buds to your phone anytime after that the buds will pair automatically. However, the pairing process does take about 5 seconds to then hear your audio.

Groov-e MagicBuds Review

If I had to find a negative I would have liked to know how much battery power I have in the case but unfortunately, I don’t get that with these buds the charging case just has the one LED to show the battery level. That said you do get 60 hours of standby as well as the 7 hours charge in the case.

I would only use these buds for my daily trip to work and they will perform well but I would not consider these for a workout as you do not get any wingtips so they are at risk of falling out if you are doing vigorous exercise plus they are not IP rated meaning they are not water-resistant. Don’t get me wrong the silicone tips do provide a good fit but suit more of the everyday use over hitting the gym.

Moving on to the controls as they use the button press you will need to remember the various number of button taps and which bud does what.

Power on– Press either bud for 2 seconds

Power off – Press either bud for 5 seconds

Play/Pause/Answer call or hang up call – short press on either bud.

Smart Assistant – Press and hold either bud for 1.5 seconds

Next Track – Double Press on the right bud

Previous Track – Double Press on the Left bud

Increase Volume– Triple Press on the right bud

Decrease Volume– Triple Press on the left bud.

So as you can see it’s a lot to remember and it gets worse as you can just use one bud at a time and the instructions are slightly different.

Performance

As these buds, only £24.99 please keep your expectations low and you will not be disappointed.  The Music Buds are connected by Bluetooth 5.0  and you can also use one bud at a time which is great if you want to enjoy music on the go but keep your wits about you.  In regards to the Bluetooth signal I was happy with that it never cut out over the period I have used the buds.

Moving to the overall sound of these buds they are balanced and offer a clear sound and the vocals offer some warmth. The lows offer a great bass considering the price point and the mids provide lots of detail. However, it’s the highs where these buds are just average and at times even a little tiny. These buds perform the best when you’re listening to some bass-heavy music.

I personally enjoy listening to a number of podcasts in my spare time and listening via the Music Buds provided a very clear overall sound. These buds also allow you to take calls via the hands-free mic built-in and on testing the call quality was very good I had no complaints.

Verdict

The Groov-e Music Buds are decent pair of earbuds but nothing to get you overly excited but maybe that is the point as they are in the budget sector of the market.

Groov-e is very much like Ronseal it does exactly what it says on the tin. The Music Buds allow you to listen to music at a decent quality but nothing to get an audio fan excited. If you just want a pair of buds simply for the train and only have a small budget then go for it these are perfect for you.

However, If audio quality is at the top of your list the highs in the Music Buds will disappoint but one would question why you’re looking at budget buds if that was the case.

So if you want a pair of buds that are affordable, lightweight and allow you to just use one bud if you wanted they are a great option. I did find learning all the controls a bit of a mission but once you have mastered that they are an option for that user who just wants to listen to music without worrying about all the advantages you get with a more expensive pair of buds but still wants to use the smart assistant when needed.
