Tech experts reveal which handsets are being searched for the most in the lead up to the big day this year

Every year, shoppers scramble to find the best Black Friday deals, and with an ever-increasing range of new smartphones packed with the latest tech; this year is set to be no different.

To give tech fans an insight into the most popular handsets right now, online smartphone retailer, Mobiles.co.uk, has analysed online search data to reveal the smartphones that are searched for the most in the lead up to Black Friday.

Among leading manufacturers, the top 10 that have seen the highest average monthly search demand, and therefore where the competition will likely be rife, are:

1.    iPhone 11 (368,000)

2.    iPhone 12 (201,000)

3.    iPhone 11 Pro (135,000)

4.    iPhone 11 Pro Max (135,000)

5.    iPhone SE 2020 edition (27,100)

6.    Huawei P30 Pro (22,200)

7.    iPhone 12 Pro Max and Huawei P30 (9,900)

8.    Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, Samsung Galaxy A51 and Huawei P40 Pro (6,600)

9.    Huawei P30 Lite and Samsung Galaxy A71 (5,400)

10.  Sony Xperia 1 II (4,400)

Apple’s iPhone 11 and 12 dominate the most-searched-for handsets, although surprisingly iPhone 11 appears to be in higher demand right now. However, analysing Google Trends data from the past 12 months, Mobiles.co.uk predicts the newest Apple model will follow the same trend as the iPhone 11 during last year’s Black Friday, surpassing all other handsets in searches, and so is advising shoppers to be prepared and research the best deals in advance.

Whilst new releases and flagships are evidently popular and will be in high demand, experts at Mobiles.co.uk are also advising shoppers to look out for alternatives among these ranges and from different manufacturers, to secure the best deals possible in the lead up to Black Friday and on the day.

The handsets that have seen the lowest volume of searches are:

1.    Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus

2.    Huawei P40

3.    S20 FE

4.    Sony Xperia 5 II

5.    Huawei P40 Lite

6.    Galaxy A41

7.    Huawei P Smart 2020

While these handsets don’t have the same search volume, they’re all really impressive phones which suit different types of users – whether high-end data users for business, or those looking for solid specs at an affordable price. For customers looking to pick up a bargain on some hidden gems, these handsets have the potential to be sleeper hits this year.

Andrew Cartledge, Mobile Expert at Mobiles.co.uk, comments: “Savvy shoppers know to be prepared to find the very best deals on Black Friday, so we wanted to arm them with the knowledge they need to spot the best deals on the handsets they want. Naturally, iPhone’s latest launch is in high demand, as is its predecessor, so those who are after iPhone deals this Black Friday will definitely need to move quickly on the day.

“However, it certainly isn’t all about the top flagship handsets or the newest devices. We’ve seen some really exciting launches across the board recently, and those who want the very best deals would benefit from shopping around among some of the alternative handsets.

“For example, handsets like the P30 and P30 Lite from Huawei offer up fantastic camera specs and powerful operating systems that aren’t to be overlooked, while Sony’s latest Xperia launches offer professional level photography and screen specs that are ideally suited to mobile gamers.

“There’s also the Samsung Galaxy FE, which offers eye-catching specs such as a 6.5-inch display, 12MP triple-lends camera, as well as a choice of 4G or 5G connectivity, providing Samsung Galaxy fans impressive tech on a reduced price-tag.

Andrew adds: “If you know what you want ahead of time, it is worth setting up online accounts with your favourite retailers, securely saving your shipping and payment details to your account so you can complete purchases quickly once deals are live.”
