Home Security is such an important factor for any family. The brand eufy has been around for a while now and is a trusted brand. When it comes to home security, we have reviewed a number of brands like Swan, but the eufy shines with the eufyCam S3 Pro.

First impressions

The eufyCam S3 Pro comes with a twin camera combination, is a resolution which is a real strength of the brand. This camera package is effectively an all-in-one bundle, which means that it comes with everything you need to set up. What I liked about this set-up is the quality of the footage.

I positioned the two cameras, one looking after the work office and the other guarding the side gate of the house. The footage is 4K, and the cameras are able to capture footage either day or night. The over benefit is that it’s easy to install and set up, and there is no monthly subscription for recorded footage.

The only thing that might concern people buying this security system is the price coming in at £499 via Amazon, but as I say shop around as you can find some better deals from the likes of Argos & Currys. If you wanted three cameras, a single camera can be purchased for £229 It might be worth buying the 4-camera set-up for £799, also via Amazon.

Unboxing

The eufyCam S3 Pro comes with two 4K UHD monitoring units along with a HomeBase base station. You get all the cables for the HomeBase unit as well as the mounting brackets inside the packaging, allowing you to quickly set up the installation of the cameras. The cameras are charged by the solar panels built on top of the cameras, and you also get an additional panel just in case the position of the camera is in a dark spot.

The HomeBase hub is the control centre of this set-up. You need to set it up using the supplied Ethernet cable, power cable and adapter that needs to be plugged into the mains supply. You need to connect to your home Wi-Fi network so it can be configured for use.

Design

The eufy S3 Pro is a security system that sits at the premium end of the market, and this is shown as everything is well-made. The whole system is powered by AI and offers MaxColor Vision technology while delivering 4K footage from both camera units. The cameras are armed with F1.0 aperture lenses and 1/1.8 inch CMOS sensors.

You might be asking What is MaxColor? It’s a tech that is designed to help the camera with shooting after dark, which is an area that other surveillance cameras struggle with.

Another positive when it comes to the eufyCam S3 Pro is the ability to work using solar power; with just an hour of sunlight, the camera is fully charged for today’s activity.  The battery comes with a 1,3000mAh rechargeable battery that can deliver up to 365 days of battery life.

So, paying a little extra, the S3 Pro offers a responsive camera that can reduce false alerts by 99%. Audio is well represented as it comes with a dual microphone setup.  That adds in a speaker and 105dB siren alerts for additional overall effectiveness. Add in 16TB of expandable storage, which can be used without monthly fees, plus the ability to tweak settings and alerts using the accompanying app.

Performance

The mention of AI can raise questions. However, I was impressed with how good the eufyCam S3 Pro setup works with the help of this accompaniment. The standout is the 4K video and the 8x zoom functionality to get right in on specific areas of my footage.

This works equally well when it’s daylight or night, too. It’s also boosted further by the clever AI assistance that also enhances the footage.

Verdict

The eufyCam S3 Pro is, by far, the best you can buy on the market. Yes, the cost is high, and it can get even higher if you want more cameras. The footage is excellent, usability is simple and effective, and the lack of monthly subscriptions is one worry avoided.

Overall, the eufyCam S3 Pro is a versatile piece of kit, perhaps one of the best we have tried. There’s certainly flexibility with a focus on areas up to forty feet, which is very impressive. The viewing angle of 120 degrees means your cameras provide an excellent view of the area I’m keeping tabs on. The 16GB of storage is also great, and it works seamlessly with services like Amazon and Alexa.
