The second product from the mobile accessory brand Momax we have had the chance to review is the Q LED 2 in 1 desk lamp and wireless charger after the Momax Airbox.
The Momax Q.LED desk lamp is available in 4 colours: White, Grey, Dark Grey & Black and is available for £59.95 via amazon.
When you think of a lamp you hardly get excited but this device they have made a simple device smart but adding the following features:
- 1-hour auto-off timer
- 5 colour temperature modes
- 6 brightness levels
- Flicker-free lighting
- 50,000 hrs life span
- Built-in USB port
What Momax have also done is offer a 10W wireless charging pad and light adjustments to assist with better eye health. This is great considering lots of us are still working from home and having a smart lamp will really free up some space in that makeshift office.
So let’s see if this device is worth buying?
Design
A lamp and wireless charging solutions are not new in fact most brands offer both but Momax offers a nice combination that is a useful product for most places in the house. In terms of design, it’s not a massive device and the most noticeable aspect is the metal used and there is very little plastic used. I think the only plastic I could see was on the base of the device.
The base comes with that 10W wireless charging which allows you to keep your phone charged or in fact any Qi-compatible device. As mentioned this is very handy in that home office and you want to reduce the number of cables in the room. You also have a USB port of the side if you are unlikely and don’t have a QI-enabled device you can still charge that product.
What I really liked is the lamp can be adjusted to any room or position for example the lamp arm can be adjusted up to 180 degrees to provide light to any area how you want it. If that is not enough the lamp head adjusts up to 270 degrees meaning you have great flexibility to be adjusted to suit your needs.
In terms of size, the Momax Q LED desk lamp is lightweight at just under 2 pounds in weight and in terms of size the lamp comes in at 17.5 x 5.12 x 2.17 inches. This allows the device the be very portable.
In terms of setting up, the Q LED desk lamp is super easy to set up simply place the lamp into the slot on the base. Then tighten the lamp with the screw provided that needs to be tightened from the base and your set up. Last but not least simply plug the lamp into a power adapter and away you go.
The smart factor of this light comes from the control panel at the base of the device. This touch panel allows you to select one of 30 light combinations, Switch between 6 brightness levels and five colour temperatures from 2,800K to 6,500K with the brightest setting up to a max of 1,100 LUX. You also have the bonus that no matter the adjustment you have a flicker-free bulb that is easier for your eyes.
Another handy bonus is that auto-off timer which means after 1 hour the lamp switches its self off. What is even more useful is when you are back in the room the lamp remembers the last settings you had. What I really like is the touch panel on this device it takes a slight touch or swipe and you can pick the brightness level which is represented by small dots on the base. The base only has 3 buttons – Power, Mode, 1-hour auto timer.
The mode button allows you to switch between colour temperatures which you can set from brighter lights when you’re working to a warmer light before you head of to bed.
Qi Compatible Charging
Above the controls is the Qi-enabled wireless charging base which is indicated by the circle with the Momax logo which gives you a clue as to where your phone should be placed to quick in the wireless charging option. When using the wireless charging part of the lamp and it works great this charged my iPhone in good time.
In fact, I think it charged from zero to 100 per cent in about 1 hour, 45 minutes all via the 10W wireless charger. I also found as long you have a case that is Qi-compatible you won’t have any issues.
You can also use this charging base to charge a number of wireless charging devices such as your headphones or earbuds and they charge up quite fast.
Q LED Lamp Brightness
I really like this lamp the brightness from the dimmest of settings did light up the area of of the room you want. You have 30 colour temperature modes so there is a setting perfect for everyone.
The brightest setting is ideal for when I need to make notes in my home office. I also found that adjusting the arm allows you to direct where you want the light to be and many users will find this very helpful depending on what you’re doing.
Verdict
This lamp has a great design and keeps to a simplistic design that will blend into your room. I found the wireless charging option really useful and removing charge cables in any room is not a bad thing. I also found the number of settings in terms of light combinations really useful and can be set up with a simple tap or swipe.
The fact you can adjust the lamp is also a really great feature. At £59 it’s affordable and really useful so what’s to dislike. A perfect accessory for the home office and the ease of storage means when it’s not required it can be put away with ease.
