It’s hard to keep up with all the latest news. Advancements in large language models, generative AI and healthcare are accelerating quickly.

Fierce Healthcare has introduced a generative AI tracker to provide regular updates on noteworthy projects and initiatives in the healthcare industry. While continuing to cover significant trends and in-depth analysis of emerging technologies, this tracker aims to keep readers informed about the latest efforts in integrating advanced technologies like OpenAI’s GPT-4 with the medical field. By visiting this page frequently, readers can stay updated on the integration of cutting-edge technologies and their impact on healthcare.

One such development is Carbon Health’s implementation of hands-free charting, an AI-enabled note assistant, within its proprietary electronic record software used across all of its clinics. This innovative approach streamlines the process of documenting patient information by leveraging AI capabilities. The company claims to be the first to implement native AI-assisted charts at scale.

Executives said that the integration, which is built directly into Carbon Health EHR, and is designed to fit in a provider’s current workflow, saves time and improves the connection between patient and doctor. Doctors can spend more time with their patients and less time typing.

Carbon Health CEO Eren Bal said in a press release that “the rapid development and deployment” of hands-free charts advances Carbon Health’s AI enabled EHR. It also shows how AI can quickly have a real world impact on the delivery of care. Our vertically integrated system of clinics, providers and software allows us to take advantage of AI technologies such as GPT-4.

It is hoped that this will reduce the workload of clinicians and allow them to see more patients in clinics without adding to their already busy schedules.

Executives told stat that Carbon is optimistic about the technology’s potential to cut costs and sell it to other providers. The company claims that early data shows immediate benefits to providers. The system can generate a medical chart in four minutes on average, compared to sixteen minutes with a manual chart. The AI-generated text was accepted without editing by 88% of providers. The AI-generated charts have 2.5x the detail of manual entry.

Fierce Healthcare has launched a generative AI tracker to keep readers informed about the latest projects and initiatives in the healthcare industry. While the publication will continue to cover larger trends and provide detailed analysis of new technologies that capture attention, the AI tracker serves as a valuable resource for staying up to date.

By visiting the tracker page regularly, readers can learn about the ongoing efforts to integrate advanced technologies like OpenAI’s GPT-4 into various aspects of the medical field. This includes exploring how these technologies can be harnessed to enhance patient care, improve healthcare processes, and drive innovation within the industry.

One notable example of technological integration is the implementation of hands-free charting by Carbon Health, a hybrid primary care provider. Carbon Health has incorporated an AI-enabled note assistant into its proprietary electronic medical record (EMR) software, which is utilized across all of its clinics. This innovative approach aims to streamline the process of documenting patient information.

Through the use of AWS Transcribe medical, audio from doctor-patient visits is transcribed using ambient voice technology. This transcription is then combined with additional patient information, such as demographics, vitals, laboratory results, and manually added notes from the provider. The result is a comprehensive visit summary that is generated within minutes and automatically added to the patient’s chart within the EMR system.

This integrated approach empowers healthcare providers by providing them with a consolidated view of the patient’s visit. They can review the generated summary, make any necessary adjustments or additions, and then finalize the information within the EMR. By leveraging AI-driven transcription and automation, the process becomes more efficient and enables providers to focus more on patient care.

The integration of AI technology, such as AWS Transcribe medical, into EMR software demonstrates the potential for improving documentation processes, reducing administrative burden, and enhancing overall patient care. These advancements in healthcare technology not only streamline workflows but also contribute to the creation of comprehensive and accurate patient records.Bali said that eye contact is more important than iPads. For too long, healthcare providers have been forced to choose between being present with patients and taking notes. Carbon Health clinics will no longer have this problem. “We’re enabling clinics to better serve the community, without having to make trade-offs such as burnout or exhaustion.”

Tempus, a company specializing in artificial intelligence and precision medicine, has developed a clinical assistant powered by AI that uses generative AI for clinicians to have easier access to data.

Tempus One, a voice-and-text assistant available via the Tempus Hub desktop app and mobile app, is designed to give clinicians quick access to a patient’s complete clinical and molecular profiles to inform clinical decisions. Tempus One allows clinicians to, among other things, access new clinical tests reports and receive updates on a patient report. They can also quickly filter patients by gene or diagnosis, access summary information, review biomarker information, and query clinical guidelines.

Tempus claims to have unveiled its first prototype for Tempus One at the beginning of 2021, and then enrolled a group of clinicians in a pilot program. The company has spent the last two years improving the Tempus One Technology through iterations based upon physician feedback and user tests. It evolved the technology so that generative AI – built on top of large languages models – is directly integrated into clinical care settings.

“Tempus One leverages the vast healthcare dataset that now exceeds more than 100 petabytes, and uses groundbreaking advancements in generative AI. This allows us to put our precision medicine platform in the hands of every clinician, improving their ability make data-driven decisions for their patients,” Eric Lefkofsky said in a press release.
