Hive, part of British Gas, today announces the launch of its newest product in the next generation of smart heating, the ‘Hive Thermostat Mini’. Helping customers to manage their heating conveniently by using the Hive App, ‘the Mini’ also boasts intuitive features that work in the background to help users keep a closer eye on their energy usage.
Recently awarded the 2021 GOOD DESIGN® Award, the Mini is beautifully simple with an elegant, mirrored finish. It’s also smaller than the current Hive Smart Thermostat and will complement any décor.
As the newest member of the Hive Active Heating family, the Mini joins the range of high-tech smart devices that can help customers reduce carbon emissions seamlessly and manage the home’s heating, all controlled through their smartphone. Key features of the Hive Thermostat Mini include:
Geolocation: The Hive Thermostat Mini is able to detect if customers have left the house with the heating on. If they have, it will send an instant alert as a reminder to turn it off. Making lives even easier, households can also connect the Mini to a Hive Door Sensor in the Hive App, so the heating turns off between certain times automatically when customers leave the house.
Scheduling: The award-winning Hive App also enables customers to set personalised schedules, use holiday mode and boost their heating. Alternatively, the Mini device itself can be used to change main features like setting the target temperature and switching between heating or hot water modes, which include manual, schedule on and off.
Frost Protection: For when it gets chilly and the temperature drops below 7°C in the home, the Mini also has Frost Protection which turns the heating on to help stop pipes from freezing.
Ideal for those who want to make their homes more energy efficient but don’t know where to start, the Mini is available to new Hive customers for just £119 or to existing customers already using a Hive Hub for only £59. The thermostat can not only help households manage their energy use but can also help to shrink their carbon footprint, an important feature as households look to make homes more sustainable and work towards net-zero targets.
Customers can easily connect all their Hive smart products in the Hive App, from heating and cameras to lights and alarms. For ultimate ease, the Mini can also be voice-controlled through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
Make additional savings with Hive Heating Plus
Customers could boost their energy efficiency further by combining the Mini with Hive Heating Plus, an innovative and personalised subscription service that helps them easily take control of their heating spending and monitor their heating efficiency. Hive Heating Plus could help customers save up to £10 a month on energy bills during cold months for only £3.99 a month, or £39.99 in a single annual payment.
The subscription service will be launching some exciting updates in early 2022, including the ‘Schedule Assist’ function, due to arrive in February 2022.
Using data based on customers’ specific heating behaviours, Schedule Assist will monitor energy usage to offer truly personalised tips on how customers can control their heating effectively. This means Hive will be able to show customers exactly how they can save energy in the home through small adjustments to their usage, including guidance on where cost savings can be made.
Hive is aiming to continuously improve this Hive Heating Plus feature over the coming months, adding more tips to help customers continue to save money.
