Edifier D32, and they keep the style in the ES20 Model. There is also the signature sound you expect from Edifier, which I genuinely love. It’s warm, immersive and more refined than you might expect considering the price of £49.99. The ES series comes in as a small, stylish, and packed with personality.
First Impressions
When the speaker arrived, I was genuinely surprised by how compact it was, and the packaging reflects that. This speaker screams retro just like the D32 model that stands out immediately. This speaker is a blend of vintage and modern build quality. The body is wrapped in a matte rubbery finish that feels great in the hand, and the buttons have satisfying feedback that I love. It even comes with a lanyard ready to follow you anywhere and comes in two colours – Black or Ivory
Sound Quality
You might not be expecting much from a speaker like this speaker, but you should! The sound quality is perfect. You get a punchy bass, but not too hard that it ends up too hard and makes the overall sound muddy. You get a deep and warm bass, and the mids and vocals are clear and rich, exactly what you come to expect from this brand. I found this speaker to work well regardless of my activity, such as listening to chill playlists or listening to a podcast. The ES20 has your back.
You can also pair with a second ES20 to provide you with a stereo setup, which provides a new experience that comes with a wider soundstage, deeper immersion, perfect for creating a sound system without much fuss.
Features
The main feature when you look at the ES20 is the ambient light vibe, which makes this speaker stand out from its rivals. The ES20 includes multiple light presets that gently glow while playing music, offering a stylish vibe. It’s a small touch, but one that makes the speaker stand out.
Performance
The ES20 allows you to simply take this speaker anywhere from my office desk to the kitchen or even out in the park or on a trip to the beach. This speaker is small enough to put in your jacket pocket or simply pop into your bag. Add the fact that you have an IP67 rating, meaning it’s dustproof, waterproof and can handle the UK weather. If you are lucky enough to have two of these speakers, which will cost just under £100, pairing the two devices at the same time is so simple to do. If you just have the one pairing, is super easy, and the Bluetooth 5.4 connection is stable. You can even pair the speaker from your phone and laptop at the same time.
Verdict
I love this speaker as it comes with a punchy bass and paired with a retro design, and the inclusion of that ambient lighting, and the option to buy a second speaker for that stereo pairing to take the sound to the next level. This is why I have awarded this speaker our What Gadget Recommended award.
