In the second product sent to use by iWalk after the Link Me 4 portable charger we have been sent their Magnetic wireless powerbank and have been testing this device over the last few weeks to see if it’s up to standard in terms of giving you that boost to your mobile phone battery when required.

Why should you carry a powerbank?

You have been working all day and most of us use our phones as a work tool or simply a way to get away from the daily grind. You might even pop out after work and go to use your phone and that dreaded 10% battery notification appears.

So that is why having a portable powerbank is a useful tool to keep you topped up but many on the market are just too large to carry around.  In this review, we cover a product that solves the problem of a powerbank being just too bulky. The iWALK Magnetic wireless power bank is designed for the iPhone.

First Impressions

The iWALK Magnetic power bank is affordable at only £27.99 and comes in black, Pink and white and it’s only suitable for iPhone 12 and above.

When you first get this out you will notice how slim and sleek this portable device can be. This device prefers to be connected directly to the phone but if you have a MagSafe-compatible phone case it will also work.

Connecting the magnetic power bank to your phone is a walk in the park this is thanks to the way Apple designed the Magsafe Interface as the magnets from the power bank stick firmly to the phone. When you fully changed simply pull off the back of your phone and then this handy little device will slide right into your pocket.

We found when connected to the phone its not very bulky due to the ergonomic form factor meaning you can continue to use the device it even comes with a finger ring for those who feel that they might drop the phone and if you’re using this without a case that could be quite the concern.

Design

As mentioned the iWALK magnetic power bank has that slim and portable design but it also comes with a built-in temperature control chip to prevent overheating and will charge your phone at a speed of 7.5W which is not the worst speed on the market but please keep in mind this device has been made to give you a top up I would not switch my Twelve South HiRise 3 charging stand.

The iWALK magnetic power bank comes with a 6000mAh battery capacity meaning will have more than enough battery to keep you going throughout the day even with the busiest phone users out there.

When it’s time to recharge you are provided with a USB-C cable that will charge this device back up at a rate of 18W. Want to know how much battery life this device has? Well on the front of the charger is a small LCD display that will indicate the percentage left.

Performance

I have been using this magnetic wireless powerbank for a few weeks and it performed very well anytime I hit 50% of my battery life. It provided that top up allowing me to continue with my busy day. I also found it useful that I can even use my phone while it is charging. Considering the price it’s hard to argue this does not offer a lot of benefits.

If you do not have a MagSafe compatible case this charger will have to be applied directly to the back of the phone which removes that protection to the phone and adds that extra risk of accidental damage.

Verdict

I was very impressed with the iWALK Magnetic wireless powerbank which has been designed on the back of Apple’s own MagSafe charger and costs £99 So the iWalk version is a budget-friendly version of that at only £27.

You will notice this magnetic charger will charge slower compared to plugging your phone into the mains with a lighting cable but that is expected. This device is designed to keep you going as and when needed and it does just that the LED display allows you to keep tabs on how much backup power you have. I was also pleased with the slim design meaning you could even keep it on your phone all time if you wish.
