Late last year Apple launched its new Apple iPad Air which costs £579 from Currys PC World it would not be surprising that you might be looking for that extra level of protection and accessory brand Gecko have sent us three of these latest models to test: The Easy Click Cover, Business cover and Qwerty Keyboard cover. This is on the back off the last Gecko Reviews we did also for the iPad Air which was the Gecko Rugged Cover.
In this review, we start taking a further look at the Gecko Qwerty keyboard cover which is suitable for 10.2 inch iPad Air and this case is designed for the professional in mind as it comes with magnetic Bluetooth 5.0 keyboard for these who need to work on the go or when your commuting on a train for a long journey to work.
This case costs £73.51 on Amazon and its not hard to see why this case is made mainly of leather and is a sleek in design and with the leather material it prevents that scratching to the iPad. What am so glad about and is an improvement on the rugged cover i reviewed recently it comes with that magnetic latch which prevents the cover from opening by mistake when you have put your tablet in your bag when travelling.
The case also has a foldable kickstand that part of the case that when folded into the kickstand has a magnetic strip that keeps the kickstand in shape and offers the perfect viewing angle when using your screen to work or watch a film on that train ride. Unfortunately, the case only allows you to view the screen in landscape mode. However, considering when most users will use this case for its not an issue.
The case has all the correct positioning for all the ports and buttons allowing you to be able to use the iPad with ease you can charge the iPad without any problems and you can also press the power and volume buttons with ease.
What makes this case stand out and unique compared to the other gecko cases and why its aimed for the professional is the Bluetooth 5.0 keyboard. This keyboard has a magnetic back that connects to the inside panel of the case. The keyboard is very easy to connect to your tablet simply switch on the power switch and it will start to pair automatically. Just above the power switch is USB-C port to charge the keyboard up. Gecko do you a small charge cable but most of use will have longer USB-C cables for charging.
At the top of the keyboard, you have four LEDs that all indicate what the keyboard is doing such as:
- Bluetooth/Power Indicator – If the keyboard not used for 15 minutes it will enter sleep mode. To bring it out of sleep mode press any key for 5 seconds.
- Caps Lock Indicator – When caps lock is on the light will stay on.
- Low Battery Indicator – The light will flash when the battery is low.
- Charging indicator– The light will stay on when charging and switch off when fully charged.
The keyboard is very receptive and has a number of shortcut keys which control things like print screen, volume control & screen brightness. The user guide offers the full list of shortcut keys.
Verdict
This iPad cover is really well designed I love the fact it comes with the Bluetooth keyboard allowing you to work on the move instead of trying to use the on-screen keyboard. I love the magnetic back on the keyboard meaning it does not need to stay on the back of the cover. I also love that magnetic kickstand allowing you to have that perfect viewing angle. What has pleased me the most gecko must have read my review on the rugged case. They have included that magnetic latch which keeps the cover firmly on.
The case is also made of leather and has all the correct positioning for all the ports and buttons. It’s a very well built case that will give me the confidence my iPad will be perfectly safe and also offer that professional fell the cost might put a few people off but if your a business user this case is well worth the investment.
