Design

 

The RUGD Power Brick is quite a stand-out product may be down to the orange plastic casing and the big bold logo on the front. The power brick is fairly lightweight at only 280g and inside that casing is a lithium-ion battery with a 10,050mAh capacity if that was not enough its also IP67 rated meaning it will be able to handle the most extreme weather conditions you might find yourself in. The IP67 rating provides a fully waterproof product perfect if you get caught in the rain. 

The RUGD Power Brick is not only lightweight it’s actually not very large and comes in at 97x97x28mm and will fit in your back pocket or you can use the included carabiner to attach it to your backpack. The RUGD Power Brick comes with a Silicon shockproof bumper around all four corners.

On one side of the power brick power button which also doubles up as the light switch will turn on the LED camping light positioned on the other side and a second press will turn on the flashing SOS mode. (It is not recommended to charge a device and use the light at the same time as the device will heat up).

Next to the power button is a rubberised cover and under that are the USB-A & USB-C ports which can be used together to charge an iPhone and Tablet at the same time.

The RUGD Power Brick comes with a USB-C rugged cable and the power brick comes with an 18W charging facility allowing you to get a fast charge of 50% charge on a device like an iPhone 12 in no time at all. 

 

The USB-C cable will also allow you to charge up other gadgets when out and about like your camera battery packs.  You can also use the same charging cable to recharge the device, You can also see the level of the battery displayed by 4 dots. The number of dots indicates the following: 

  • 4 LED’s: 100% 
  • 3 LED’s: 75% 
  • 2 LED’s: 50%
  • 1 LED: 25%
  • 1 flashing LED: Less than 10%

When it’s time to fully recharge the RUGD Brick it will take a max of 5 hours to fully recharge using the USB- A cable provided. You will notice the LEDs will flash/blink while charging and when finished all 4 LEDs will remain illuminated.

In addition to the RUGD power brick, with its USB-A to USB-C cable you can also charge a device or recharge the power brick. RUGD have also created the Rhino cable that comes in two variants USB-C to USB-C or USB-C to lightning cable. The charging cable costs a very affordable £19.99. The rhino cable is very similar to what Tech Energi produce for a similar price point.

The Rhino power cable is made of a very durable some might even say indestructible material that has been tested to handle 100KG of tension and has had 100,000 aggressive bend tests so you know it will handle anything you do to this cable. 

The cable is compatible with most Apple devices from the iPod Mini 2 to an iPhone 13  and everything in between so the cable will be able to charge a number of Apple devices. 

The cable comes in a 1-meter size and which will provide you with a decent size for a wide range of uses. If your looking for a charging cable that will last forever this is the cable for you.

Verdict of both the RUGD Power Brick & Rhino cable

 

The RUGD Power Bank costs £70 which is not the cheapest on the market but the fact you can get 50% power on your iPhone in just 30 minutes due to the fast charging facility you will be back up and running in no time. 

This would be a vital tool if you are a content creator or someone that enjoys travelling and wants to remove the concern that their devices might run low. When camping the RUGD brick allows you to charge your phone and then when you want some light in the tent it will provide you with that benefit. It will also provide you with that SOS signal if you needed to call for help. 

The Rhino cable provides the perfect accessory for the RUGD brick as it will provide a durable cable alongside a very durable device charger perfect for the great outdoors.
