I have been reviewing these TWS buds for the last week now and have to say considering the cost you get a decent pair of buds in terms of comfort and audio quality most users will be satisfied with.
Who is SoundPeats?
SoundPEATS is an Asian brand that was started back in 2010 by a group of people who wanted to enjoy music while living a healthy lifestyle. They saw a gap in the market and found people back then were unsatisfied with traditional headphones and wanted something more for listening to music while doing sport. SoundPEATS are now a brand that is available worldwide with a little help from Amazon.
As you might have expected considering the cost, the unboxing was a very simple and unexciting experience. The packaging on the front made you feel you were getting a decent item but take that cover off and it was a little dull. In the box you get the following:
- SoundPEATS Sonic Pro
- Charging case
- USB Type-C cable
- Eartips (3 sizes)
The Sonic Pro offers a decent build considering the cost, it is mainly made of plastic and the case was well built. I had the black with a gold trim case which is the same colour used on the buds. There is no wobble from the lid and they even survived the shake test as inside the case they have mini magnets that will hold the buds inside the case when not in use.
Moving to the buds I found they fit securely in my ear and do come with additional eartips if you need a better fit. Once the buds are in your ears and you’re listening to your favourite music. I found the Bluetooth 5.2 connection to be excellent considering the cost. I was also impressed with the distance offered. You get a solid 10-meter range.
The SoundPEATS Sonic Pro offer a wide range of touch controls, everything from power, track control, volume control, receiving and rejecting a call, Voice Assistant and even Low delay mode. Below is a breakdown of the controls:
- Power On: Take the earbuds out of the case
- Power off: Place the buds back in the case
- Play/Pause: Click the multifunction button once
- Skip Track: Press and hold right bud for 1.5 seconds
- Return to last track: Press and hold left bud for 1.5 seconds
- Increase volume: Tap right bud twice
- Decrease volume: Tap left bud twice
- Answer a call/ End a call: Click the multifunction button once
- Reject a call: Press and hold bud for 1.5 seconds
- Voice Assistant: Tap right bud three times
- Low delay mode: Tap left bud three times
Inside the Sonic Pro, you have a QCC3040 chipset and a high performing battery that provides you 15 hours of playback from the buds and up to 35 hours of battery life from the charging case that can be charged using a wireless charging dock as they are Qi-enabled.
I found this very useful as I have a charging dock at home and the office so I was never low on battery and would charge these when not in use. You will also be happy that you don’t need to carry a charging cable unless you want to, as the Sonic Pro comes with a USB-C port at the rear of the charging case and has a tiny LED to indicate when they are on charge.
The Sonic Pro provides the listener with a well-balanced armature driver in each ear that provides that wide range frequency. What you get in your ears is a natural, high-quality audio experience that provides clarity and lots of detail. I have listened to a variety of music with these buds and was very satisfied with what I got in terms of overall audio quality.
The buds provide you with 15 hours of continuous playback and I found zero interruptions even in a busy place like London Liverpool St station where many earbuds have failed that test.
The Sonic Pro also comes with a gaming mode which enables a latency of 60ms which is ideal for when playing racing games or even a game of call of duty they work very well you can hear even the tiniest of sounds.
The SoundPEATS Sonic Pro has created a sound profile that puts its focus around the vocals and it shows. The mid-range offers a neutral sound quality that allows the listener to enjoy a song with bright vocals in the centre. This mid-range is very impressive considering the cost the clarity was there for all to hear.
I was also impressed with the touch controls. They reacted well to my touch and had no issue with the controls which you will learn after a few days of use. What really makes these buds stand out is the fact you get 15 hours of playtime from one charge and in the charging case you get an additional 35 hours this puts a lot of more expensive options to shame.
I also found the wireless charging very useful, meaning I could keep them topped up at home or the office. I also found in the small amount of time I get to play mobile gaming the lower latency is a joy when playing something like COD.
For the cost of £59, they offer a hell of a lot and you will not be disappointed granted they lack some of the features you get in more expensive buds but for the price, it’s hard to argue not buying these.
So if budget is your pain point when buying a pair of buds, these are well worth the investment.
