1More ComfoBuds True Wireless Headphones £64.99 on Amazon

Audio brand 1More is a brand that I have reviewed a number of there products over the last 3 years and have always been a brand that goes above and beyond when it comes to what they provide. The latest product sent to use is the 1More Comfobuds which fall into the budget end of the market with the buds available for £64.99 from Amazon and are available in both black and white.  In this review, 1More sent the black version to carry out the review.

The 1More ComfoBuds has been created as a budget alternative to Apple Airpods which cost £169 (Via Currys). 1More has worked hard to produce a decent pair of buds that look good but also sound great.

UnBoxing

Unlike other audio treats from 1More, the Comfobuds are very basic but this is understandable considering the cost. Inside the box, you get the charging case, USB-C charging cable and user guide. You don’t get any of the other accessories you normally expect from 1More.

Design

The comfoBuds come in a high-gloss plastic charge case and it’s a tiny case that will fit in your jean pocket with ease. The case actually looks really nice it has that 1More logo on the top and a USB-C port at the back. 1More has also made the lid quite heavy meaning it survived the shake test. This is paired with the buds have small magnets on the back of the bud and in the case.

My only negative is the case does get dirty very quickly and attracts fingerprints so every now and again I give it a wipe with a microfiber cloth.

Moving to the buds as expected they are very comfortable as the name suggests after several hours of use, they did not hurt my ears at all. They sit in the ear very similar to the AirPods, so if you found them comfy, you will have no issue with these. On the bud, you have a rubber gasket around the speaker opening which is there to make the buds more secure. I found when doing a Joe Wicks workout as its lockdown currently they stayed in my ears even when doing an intense workout.

Speaking of using these to work out the comfoBuds are IPX5 that can resist sustained low-pressure water spray meaning they are sweat-resistant and can even handle when you’re out and about and it rains your buds will be safe.

The controls are via tap controls, you can use the 1More app to customize the controls and set the number of taps on each bud for the following gestures:

  • Playback
  • Call control
  • Volume
  • Track control
  • Voice assistant

When you set the controls they are also well recognized when you tap and if you just want to single tap or just take the bud out of your ear that is the autoplay/pause feature and it works very well.

Connection wise these buds run on Bluetooth 5.0 and pairing the buds is very easy. Take the buds out and they start going into pairing mode automatically and then you simply connect them to your phone as you would normally do. You can also connect to a second device meaning you can use these on both work & Personal phone if you wanted. They switch back and forth with ease.

Unfortunately, the Bluetooth range only offers 10m range but considering most of us are staying at home due to the lockdown I noticed leaving my phone in one room and going into another room and that is when the range proved to be a little off and the connection was lost which is disappointing.

Sound Quality

The comfoBuds come with a 13.4mm dynamic Driver and do offer a nice sound considering the cost you get a clear and precise sound which makes instruments sound great but its the bass was a little lacklustre.

The lows can become a little bloated at times but with the right track that does not take anything away from the mids and highs. Something like “This Is Me from The Greatest Showman” the vocals take centre stage and come with plenty of clarity this showcases the sound quality in the Comfobuds. Its a shame the lack of low frequency the balance of the overall sound feels a little lost.

I tested these on a wide range of music they performed well apart from the bass. The ComfoBuds are a great option for the casual user who bass is not a deal-breaker.

Battery Life

Battery life in the comfoBuds is not that great you only get 4 hours of playback and with the charging case that offers a total of 18 hours. Unfortunately, you don’t get a quick charge option or Qi-compatible option. When you run out of battery life it will take 80 minutes to recharge the case fully.

Verdict

The 1More Comfobuds are a decent alternative to the more expensive Apple option. They were very comfortable for users who want to use these for several hours. Unfortunately, they are not perfect audio-wise but they are not the worst and the battery life is also an area of improvement which is needed but if you can look past these issues then the 1More ComfoBuds are well worth the £64.99 on Amazon and provide a more affordable alternative to AirPods.
