Introducing Cyberstella by Murasaki. When you think of NFT’s, you probably don’t relate that instantly to gaming, anime and manga. That may just be all about to change.

Cyberstella

I recently sat down with Shinnosuke Murata, the CEO and Co-founder of the upcoming NFT based game, Cyberstella. Being fronted by the games developer Murasaki, Cyberstella is a game that “gives the power to the player”, allowing you yourself to take ownership of characters, storylines and more simply using NFT and crypto-currency functions.

When Shin was discussing the game idea with me, I had a sense that this game could be a real trailblazer for not only gaming, but also the anime and manga industry. The way the game works is one that is unique to me, with the players themselves being not only the creators of the games characters and storylines, but also the owners.

Each character is an NFT owned by the person who created it, so let’s say you made a half-robot hitman called ‘Aimbot’ who has a gun as a hand, then you own wherever he is used, as he will be your own NFT.

The way your character gets integrated into the game is simple – you create a character with a backstory, Tweet your design, tagging Cyberstella’s Twitter account or putting #Cyberstella on your post, and then your NFT character will be minted once it’s been added to Cyberstella. Yes, it’s that simple.

Shin told me that, “Cyberstella is an idea that decentralizes narratives, taking the power away from the big businesses and giving it to the player.” This is something which to me really sounded like the start of something big. With gaming becoming more of a personalized experience than ever before, this is a huge step in that realm, giving the player actual ownership to a vital component to a game.

Every game must have an aim, and that’s no different for Cyberstella.

The overall goal when playing Cyberstella is to create the strongest crew with your avatar NFT in the large world of Cyberstella. The crew that you assemble has multiple factors in determining its strength, such as rarity, levels, abilities, and scout (mint) counts.

You have limited time in this game, with players needing to make it through different planets while collecting resources before their ‘energy’ runs out. You can make stops along the way to mine artefacts and collect tokens, all contributing to building your ultimate crew of NFT avatars.

Players must reach their base to save and secure any findings, whilst also giving them a chance to replenish their energy. You can use tokens for multiple things, such as strengthening your crew members, unlocking levels, and scouting new members for your crew.

The thrill of exploring different planets to find rare and unique artefacts that can later be sold in the crypto-based marketplace is something that I love the idea of as you are actively developing not only a crew from a game, but a crew of NFT avatars featuring your very own created avatar.

This makes the game feel more personal to the players as you are the owner of the avatar so you will naturally want to do well for the sake of your own creation.

Using the Avalanche cryptocurrency, #AVAX for the acronym lovers, you can trade the pre-mentioned artefacts and tokens with fellow players, making this game almost similar to an MMORPG, but with a crypto-based trading system, something which I find rather revolutionary.

This idea could be carried on to any online multiplayer game that has a trading system or marketplace, with cryptocurrency possibly being able to really connect gaming with real life finance, making games even more connected to people’s actual lives.

One key and interesting aspect that Shin made me aware of was that Cyberstella isn’t just a game. With encouragement to NFT owners to give their NFTs a name and even come up with a backstory for their NFTs, Murasaki wants to place an emphasis on their community member’s very own stories.

manga

Their users are given the creative license and the right to join, create, and build upon the lore and story of Cyberstella. I know many fans of anime and manga would love to create their own stories. Cyberstella makes it possible, using NFT technology and a community focused platform, you can really bring your ideas to fruition.

There’s no doubt in my mind that Cyberstella and Murasaki will be trailblazers for merging the crypto/NFT world with the gaming world, with my expectation being that many games over the next few years and with Web3 will be adopting a very similar idea to Cyberstella, so watch this space…
