Who Is Juice?

The brand Juice was originally known as Gusto Telecom and was created by Jolyon Bennett back in 2012. Since they rebranded as Juice they have been producing a wide range of mobile accessories such as the Juice Power Cables, Mobile Accessories and audio products like the Juice Boom 360 also in that budget part of the market.

You will have seen Juice products on the high street as they make these products available in places such as WH Smiths, Tesco, Sainsbury as well as online shopping sites such as Amazon and Very.co.uk.

Design

The Juice Bass Bluetooth speaker is very basic looking it comes in two colours blue or black and in this review we got the blue speaker to review. Size-wise it comes in at 180 x 60 x50 mm and weights at 362 grams making this a lightweight speaker that will fit easily into that beach bag when heading on your staycation this year.

The Speaker has a grill across the front and moving to the top of the speaker you have 4 LEDs that indicate the amount of battery you have.  You have 3 buttons; Power/ Smart assistant, Play/Pause, pairing mode. You will then see large plus and minus icons on the top of this speaker. These are like most speakers available that control the volume and track control.

On the side of this speaker, you will notice a little rubber cover with a bit of rubber pocking out this is the cover that keeps all the ports covered.

You also have an SD card slot which I found quite hardy as you can store a load of music on an SD card and that way you won’t need to use your phone for its music streaming service if you did not want to.

On the base of the speaker, it has 4 little raised triangles that act as feet and keep the speaker in place.  This speaker also comes with an IPX7 rating making it ideal for the outside as it can be submerged up to 1 meter in water for 30 minutes which is ideal if your a little clumsy like me and dropped the speaker in a swimming pool on a recent trip out and after giving it a wipe down the speaker worked perfectly.

Accessories wise you get the USB-C charge cable and a fabric carry case when you’re not using the speaker. It’s a nice addition as am all about keeping my tech safe when not in use.

Battery wise you get a 2200 mAh which offers 14 hours of battery life and Juice is true to their word when testing the speaker I gave it a full charge which took about 2.5 hours and then timed my usage with this speaker and got the 14 hours of battery life they said. When you start eating into the battery life you will be able to see the amount of battery life left indicated by the number of LEDs on.

Connection wise you get Bluetooth 5.0 which is quite common these days and found in most products so pairing with my phone was a simple process. Pairing to a second Juice Bass was also a very simple process. ( Yes I did like this speaker that much I bought a second

Sound Quality

The Juice Bass Speaker performs quite well considering the cost. It has a nice balanced sound without any significant distortions when listening to music. It offered a nice level of bass without feeling overbearing due to the use of the subwoofer.

It does offer a slight hint of hardness when considering the highs but the mids and lows came out hugely impressive considering the cost of the speaker. When I played my go-to track “Alice Merton No Roots” The Vocals sounded clear and the beat was engaging which really did allow me to enjoy the music.

When you pair the second Juice Bass it adds to the overall sound and offers that immersive sound. I found it was nice to have in the garden as it offered that stereo sound you want when you have guests over.

I also listen to a regular podcast on the speaker and it worked very well there no dropouts and the vocals come across nice and clear and at times I thought I had a more expensive speaker.

This Speaker also has a built-in microphone to allow you to answer a call through the speaker and even allow you to call the last caller back. The quality of taking a call was ok but I was told at times I sounded like I was far away which was a little disappointing but overall the call quality was clear.

Verdict

The Juice Bass Bluetooth Speaker is a great option for those not looking to spend a lot but still want a quality sound. This speaker also offers a good level of battery life with 14 hours of playback from a single charge.

The fact it comes with an IPX7 rating means you can take this speaker to the beach, away on holiday (When we are allowed to do so) and is a good size meaning it’s nice and portable. I also liked the addition of being able to use my smart assistant when listening to my music.

At £29.99 the Juice Bass Bluetooth speaker is ideal for anyone on a budget and well worth the money especially with more of us meeting friends and family outside and the likelihood of a staycation so this speaker is perfect for those who enjoy a spot of camping.

You will also be pleased to know Juice are all about looking after the planet and 100% of the packaging is recyclable which will please the green fans among us.
