Most people own a smartphone, laptop or even a wearable like a smartwatch and we do so many things on them such as searching for the latest recipe searching for news and using a mix of apps its important to keep them charged.

For those who do not how do not have the benefit of Apple Magsafe and charge your phone using the USB port and want to charge your phone and laptop as long as it comes with a USB-C port. You might be looking for something that can do both at the same time.

In this review, we have been testing the Koval sprint 140W PD 2 port wall charger. This charger is ideal to charge not just a phone but also a laptop such as a Macbook pro that requires a more robust charger. This charger with 2 ports a USB-C and USB-A port costs $89.99 and comes in 3 different plug types:

  • UK
  • US
  • EU

The key features of this plug include

The Brand – Who is Kovol?

Kovol is a brand out of China that started back in 2008 and saw modern devices need an increase in power consumption since we do more with our devices. They have since manufactured flagship-level smart charging devices with up-to-date technology paired with sleek designs.

Design

The Kovol Sprint 140W PD 2 port wall charger has a rectangular housing made of plastic in the colour white. The charger is a handy size perfect for taking with you on the move. The charger is 3.42 x1.3 x2.71 (HxWxD). The design is quite simple with just the Kovol logo on the left side of the charger.

On the front, you will find the USB-C PD charging port at the top with the USB-A QC port underneath both ports is a small LED that when plugged in the LED will light up blue. This is a useful feature to show you the charger is powered and ready to be used. If it’s not alight there might be an issue with the plug socket or the charger itself.

As mentioned at the start of this review the charger is available in 3 versions- the US, EU or UK. In this review, we got sent the UK version. We did notice the prongs do now fold down for travel so just be careful the design of the charger is quite durable so I think it could handle being in your bag with all your over gadgets.

Charging Capability

What makes this charger stand out from the crowd is the Type C port is capable of up to 120 watts which is a lot of energy and when you compare this to a standard 60-watt charger you get with most laptops this charger stands tall above that kind of charger. For those with laptops that need a lot of power like a MacBook Pro, this 120-watt charger will speed up that process for sure. If you wanted to use this to charge a MacBook Pro you need to buy a MagSafe 3 cable and would have to buy that separately as it’s not included. If you just have your current cable for charging the MacBook Pro it will still provide you with 100 watts with that cable.

The Type A port provides you with 18 watts of QC charging which is the standard for QC power and will provide you with a very fast charging speed when used to charge an iPhone your cable will carry 18 watts of current which works well with this charger.

Compatibility

The Sprint 140 W charger will work with most devices due to the due to it having both USB-A & USB-C ports. The USB Type A QC 3.0 port is perfect for changing your smartphone or tablet and will do it with speed but without causing any damage to your device.

When you need to increase the power use the Type-C port for charging a MacBook Pro it will charge it in under 1hr 30 minutes or 30 minutes to give you over 50% charge. Now this will vary if your laptop is not a MacBook Pro as most other brands are only capable of 100 watts as that was the maximum until Apple changed that so you will be pleased to know this charger will be future-proof.

Features

The Sprint 140 Watt charger is made using gallium-nitride as this material is more efficient at conducting power which is great considering this charger offers 140 watts you won’t waste energy which in a power shortage is no bad thing.

If the circuitry was to get hot it would not cause a safety hazard as this charger also has an internal temperature sensor that shuts down the power if the charger was to get too hot adding an extra layer of protection when in use.

Verdict

The Kovol Sprint 140W PD 2 port wall charger is one of the most robust chargers on the market that offers the ability to charge 120 watts of PD power as well as 18 watts of QC charging. The benefit of this charger is it allows you to use both ports at once so you can charge your laptop and smartphone at once.

I also felt the fact you can buy variations of the charger is also useful so if you are reading this in North America or in the EU you can get this charger to suit your power needs.  Costing $89.99 this charger may appear a little expensive but with the charging speeds and the fact you can charge multiple devices at once, this more than justifies the price tag.

So if you have a MacBook Pro and iPhone this charger is for you 100 % and with the increased charging speeds you will not be disappointed. Kovol is confident in their products they offer a 30-day return window so you can try it before you buy.
