The STM Goods ChargeTreeGo is a Multi-device 3-in-1 charging station that is perfect for all your Apple devices!

STM Goods ChargeTreeGo review

If you are part of the Apple Ecosystem there is a good chance you will have an iPhone, iPad & Airpods and will need to charge them up regularly so you might have 3 different cables which just look messy and the chances are the cables will get tangled.

The Lovely people over at STM Goods have sent us both the ChargeTreeGo and the MagPod. Now in this review, we are focusing on the ChargeTreeGo which is an upgrade on the STM ChargeTree which we reviewed back in 2021.  The ChargeTreeGo is designed to be simple but innovative in design as it allows you to charge your iPhone, Apple Watch and also Airpods or Qi Compatible charging buds.

First Impressions

The STM Goods ChargeTreeGo can charge up to 3 of your Apple devices all at the same time. When you are finished charging it folds up in a compact and slim manner and comes with a handy draw bag to keep it safe when travelling. Better still when folded up you can still charge your phone flat if you wish.

The ChargeTreeGo comes in two colour options black or white and is available for £55 via Amazon.

Now in terms of compatibility,  it’s designed for iPhone 8 upwards and will work with any Apple watch generation and last but not least Airpods or any other wireless charging pair of earbuds. The same goes for phone charging as long as your phone is Qi-compatible it will work. The real benefit of this device is the lack of footprint it takes on your desk and you can also say goodbye to charging cables all over your desk or bedroom table.

Design

Now three-in-one chargers are not a new product out in the market and there are a number of brands that produce similar items but what STM Goods have done provided the stand vertically instead of horizontally.

The charger measures just 2.98 x 5.76 x 4.72 inches. The main difference from the charge tree is you now have a retractable watch charger that is spring-loaded and when pushed out from the side of the unit has the right angle that the watch goes into nightstand mode.

The chargeGo charging pad is upright with a little shelf to hold the phone in place. As mentioned the phone stand will allow you to charge any Qi-enabled smartphone but it’s been designed with Apple iPhones at front of mind.

I have charged my iPhone 12 and it works perfectly. Something to consider if you were charging an iPhone 13 Pro Max the camera modules is larger so wireless chargers that are not MagSafe might not connect. This was not the case with the ChargeTreeGo as you can charge your phone in both vertically and horizontally orientation.

Moving to the rear of the charger you have a grey base that has the symbol of an airpod case this is where you place a pair of wireless charging-enabled earbuds.

There are 3 LEDs that indicate charging is happening via a solid light or a flashing light will indicate the device has not been aligned properly. After 30 seconds the lights go off so it will not keep you awake all night if used on the bedside table.

Now in terms of charging capacity, the chargeTree comes with a one-meter USB-C to USB-C charging cable that is plugged into the side of the stand.  This is a little annoying as I discovered on a recent trip to centre parks it would have been better to have had a USB-C to USB-A cable as the plug sockets only had USB-A ports. Luckily I came prepared just in case.

Assuming you have the right amount of capacity your Apple devices will charge up as follows:

  • Apple Watch – Up to 3W
  • Airpods/ Earbuds with Qi compatibility – 5W
  • Compatible Smartphone – up to 15W

Performance

When using this charging dock I was pleased you can use your phone on the charging stand horizontally as well as vertically this allowed me the watch my favourite TV show at the same time I was working. It’s also useful for making a Zoom call while still charging your device.

We found using the stand very easy to do and it allows the user to still use face ID to unlock the phone when required.  The only slight negative is the ChargeTreeGo does not seem to be Apple Certified as we could not find anything on the packaging or online to prove it otherwise. This was not seen as a deal breaker. In fact, it actually allowed STM to design the stand how they wanted which provided that sleek appearance.

Verdict

The ChargeTreeGo is an excellent multi-device charger that won’t take much room on your desk or bedside table and space becomes a premium so it’s nice to have something quite small that will allow you to charge multiple devices without taking much room.

I find it also very useful the fact the stand folds flat for easy storage but also allows you to still charge your device if required. My only negative about this device is the fact it’s missing a 20W wall plug which can be purchased separately.

Apart from that if you have a Qi-compatible phone such as an iPhone, earbuds and an Apple Watch and want to charge all three devices at once this charger needs to be considered especially at this price point.
