OneOdio Monitor 60 – A professional, studio-style PAIR OF HEADPHONES EQUIPPED WITH SENSATIONAL sound quality and comfortable earmuffs, what’s not to like.

OneOdio Monitor 60

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

My first thoughts when opening the box of the OneOdio Monitor 60 and brandishing the sleek black and grey headphones were mainly focused on the overall size of the headphones. They have a bulkier frame compared to other brands than say a pair of Beats with rather large earmuffs, however, that does not mean they feel heavy or too rigid when on my head and in my hands – the OneOdio Monitor 60 headphones appear to have a high amount of flexibility, with the ability to fold them up easily.oneOdio Monitor 60 box contents

The OneOdio Monitor 60’s arrived in a simple grey box with little design, along with a leather bag that held the headphones themselves. I assume this bag is a travel bag of sorts, allowing you to neatly pack away the headphones if you are travelling around. The leather designer-like bag gave the earphones a very premium feel, along with leather being a tough material that will no doubt be protection for when you are carrying your OneOdio Monitor 60 Headphones from place to place.

APPEARANCE

RATING – 4/5

OneOdio took a conservative approach with the Monitor 60 headphones, with them having quite a standard look for pair of studio headphones. Draped in a satin black colourway, these headphones are relatively basic in terms of appearance, with the stealthy and classy black being combined with aluminium accents creating a simple but safe look. Although large and bulky, the Monitor 60’s are not too cluttered with different plastic bits and bobs, giving them a ‘cleaner’ appearance than many other headphones on the market, which tend to chuck on random assortments of buttons and plastic pieces which end up making many headphones too cluttered.

The ‘OneOdio’ logo is embossed in black on the headband and looks great in my opinion, with it not looking tacky or obnoxious whatsoever. The overall feel of the design of these headphones is that they just simply look smart and do not ‘overdo’ it which I like. Overall, these headphones are to an extent stylish, whilst also being lowkey and not too loud. Exactly what you would want from a pair of studio headphones in the price range of around £30-60.

DURABILITY AND PORTABILITY

RATING – 4.1/5

The strong and tough plastic combined with the aluminium aspects of the OneOdio Monitor ’60s suggests that these headphones are pretty durable, however, the rotational earmuffs create a feel that these may have a greater opportunity to snap.

When bending them slightly or pulling them wide to place on my head, I didn’t feel like the OneOdio’s would straight up snap or break, although I have most definitely seen more rigid and stable headphones. That being said, I have also seen a lot flimsier headphones out there in the market compared to the OneOdio’s, so to put it plainly, these are a good middle ground in terms of toughness.

As for the portability aspect, of course, the grand size of the earmuffs, with the drivers measuring a total of 50mm in size, hinders the portability of these headphones. However, the ability to easily fold and rotate said earmuffs definitely allow for some form of portability.

 Comfort and sound quality

RATING – 4.8/5

The sound quality of these headphones is one of a very high level, with the lows and bass specifically being most definitely suitable for any pro DJs, music makers or just music fanatics in general. Whilst both the mids and high seemed to be also excellent, the lows were the main aspect of the sound quality that stood out the most to me. I also noted that the clarity of sound that you get with these headphones is astonishing, with each tip and tap of any hit hat or any pluck of a guitar string being as clear as day.

It even made me realise sounds that I hadn’t heard before in certain songs with my Apple Airpods that I use daily, making me really notice the difference between a quality pair of headphones compared to the more portable but less sound focused Airpods. Additionally, voices and melodies were extremely clear and smooth, with the pure sound of an artist’s voice being expressed, a sign of a very high-quality pair of headphones.

For the price of around £69, I think the sound quality is better than its price range, giving you excellent value for money. Obviously, many headphones in this price range usually have more features, such as Bluetooth, intricate control panels and more portability, however, I doubt many other headphones have the comfortability and the sound quality in the £60-£80 price range of the OneOdio Monitor 60 headphones.

One thing to remember is that these are studio headphones made for professional DJs and artists who probably don’t need features such as Bluetooth, as they would be simply plugging these into their decks or in their computers when making music or performing live.

Specifications

RATING – 4.6/5

The OneOdio Monitor 60 has many impressive features in terms of its specifications. Here are the main ones:

  • Hi-Res Audio verification
  • Frequency Range: 20Hz–40KHz
  • Impendence: 38Ω
  • Sensitivity: 110+3dB
  • 180˚ rotatable earmuffs
  • Adapter-free cables
  • Single side monitoring
  • High protein memory earmuffs
  • 50mm Dual Dynamic Drivers

The Monitor 60 came with three cables: the first with a 6.3 mm jack, the second with a 3.5 mm TRS jack and the third with a TRRS 3.5 mm jack that has a microphone as well; in all three cases, the other end has a 3.5 mm jack. The Monitor 60, like the previous models, feature the ability to use the 6.3 mm cable with both terminations, meaning that you can plug in the 6.3 mm jack in the socket of the same size on the headphones, in the event that your source only supports a 3.5 mm jack. It has a coiled cable which is pretty long at about 1.5 m, however, the other two cables are not coiled.

FINAL THOUGHTS

OVERALL RATING – 4.3/5

To conclude, the OneOdio Monitor 60 has a smart and stylish design, partnered with a very comfortable fit with its extra soft cushions and faux leather covers. The Monitor 60’s are more professional-friendly than your average pair of headphones and can satisfy audiophiles who require high sound quality but don’t have the financial freedom to get something better.

It is a relatively versatile pair of headphones thanks to the different cables in the package and the ability to produce a balance of tones and some details, with minor issues in the mid-range. However, with its deep bass and good treble detail, the OneOdio Monitor 60’s, at around £80 a pair, are a more than solid choice of inexpensive headphones that still deliver a studio level of sound quality.
