Twelve South Curve Stand for Laptops is the first, of a few, we are fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to review from Twelve South, so be sure to keep updated by subscribing to our mailing list.

Who are Twelve South?

Twelve South, established in 2009, design and produce products exclusively for Apple products. Their commitment is to design solutions that are as innovative as Apple themselves.

I have personally been following the brand for a while now, and I would say that within the last year or so, they have slowly made their way up the list of desirable solutions on my “Wish List”. Why? Because their marketing has been very consistent and to be honest, they’re doing a great job at solving those annoying office setup issues and also, more importantly, providing some great ergonomic products that seriously improve and maintain your mind and body.

The first product we are looking at is the Curve, designed to support ergonomics and to improve your Apple product experience.

Place your MacBook on a Curve for a dramatically more comfortable workspace.

Why use a Twelve South Curve stand?

The Work From Home life has increased dramatically as we all know and very few of us were not prepared for it. We adapted and we used what we had available to us, finding that our home office setup wasn’t ready to support our ergonomic needs.

Now, some of you have been getting by, having your laptop sat on all of those books that you never read, or on the spare trainer boxes that you bought to make sure you get your lockdown exercises in right? Yes, most of us have just adapted.

Also, let us not forget those awkward Teams or Zoom calls when your laptop’s webcam doesn’t show your good side, you know, where people can see up your nostrils…!

One really important thing is to elevate your laptop screen, to stop you from hunching over your laptop for hours on end, which leads to all sorts of pains in your neck and back which over time will seriously damage your body.

This is where the Curve stand solves this issue, for a small price concerning the long-term damage it could cause if not used.

The Curve elevates your laptop 6.5 inches off the desk, allowing you to sit up straight and have the screen directly at eye-level, where it needs to be.

Note: This stand has been designed for use alongside your separate keyboard and mouse products. (We will be looking at the ParcSlope solution in a separate review).

Key Features of the Twelve South Curve:

  1. Elevates your screen to a healthier, more comfortable ergonomic height
  2. Lifts your webcam to eye level for better-looking video calls
  3. Place alongside an external display to create the perfect dual-screen setup
  4. Classic matte black finish complements every shade of MacBook
  5. Beautiful Matte White Curve perfectly matches clean modern office spaces and white desktops.

If you also use an additional monitor, this will also be a great way to have that secondary screen perfectly in place to increase your screen real-estate,  allowing you to have multiple tasks/programs open, increasing efficiency significantly. There’s nothing worse than having to keep using the “Alt+Tab” or “Command Centre” features to switch between different work applications.

The Design – Solid, one-piece design.

Going back to why I like the brand, the products do complement their vision and purpose. The curve (like Apple products) are manufactured with elegant metal materials, that offer up that cold to the touch premium experience. The one-piece design considers many points, it’s ready to use out of the box with nothing to put together, which also means you won’t have to worry about loose screws or wobbly bits after a certain time.

The base and arms have also been designed with a purpose. The arms have non-slip silicone grips to hold your laptop in place and also provides maximum airflow in and around your workspace, so you don’t need to worry about your laptop getting too hot.

The Curve compliments the quality and aesthetics of your setup, especially if you have a beautiful looking MacBook, as it does have the same level of premium look and feel. Also, the product is available in both a Matte White or Black which works well with the Apple MacBook colours too. TwelveSouth has thought this through, well done.

Final Thoughts on the Curve?

If you haven’t guessed already, I do like this product as a solution to improving your ergonomics and workspace, along with maximising efficiency.

Colour options of White or Black offer a nice universal approach that will fit in with those who would like to achieve those Instagram perfect, clean and minimal office picture look and feel. Both colours have been very well thought out and match the Apple product line-up.

If you need a static product and not worried about the footprint it covers on your desk, then this is a great solution. If you want, or need, a product that maximises space then you might want to look at the Twelve South BookArc which is another great solution (We will see if we can get this featured, soon).
