The non-sports version the BT-X58

Who is Musicman?

MusicMan is one of 3 brands under the parent company Technaxx with the other two brands TrendGeek & LifenaXX who brought the Mini- Massager Gun LX-025 which we reviewed recently.

Technaxx also brought us the disco mobile phone charger which we also reviewed remember that? Technaxx along with the other sister brands like MusicMan is a German Manufacture. What we have found after reviewing a number of these products they all have something in common. They all offer innovation and passion in their design.

Design

The Musicman Sound Glasses Sports BT-X59 are as mentioned designed for those who enjoy sports but what to use a pair of sunglasses that allow you to listen to music and at a tap of a button take a call when cycling or out running these are the glasses for you.

The Glasses offer an IPX4 rating meaning they are sweat or weather resistant which is ideal when you’re working or get caught in a slight shower the glasses will be safe.

The frame of the glasses is made of plastic and come with 2x 1W/ 500Hz-10kHz speakers built into the arms of the speakers that offer that stereo sound and a micro USB port covered with a rubber cover that adds to that IPX4 protection.

Set-Up & Performance

Setting up the sunglasses is a simple operation first uplift the rubber protector and connect the Micro USB charge cable to the glasses and also to a power adaptor and charge to fill.  A red LED light will appear when charged and then disappear when charged. To charge these glasses from 0% to 100% takes about 2 hours to complete.

Once charged press the button on the side of the glasses and this will switch them on and they will automatically start to pair you will notice a blue flashing LED to indicate pairing mode. Make sure the Bluetooth on your phone is on and then click pair to the MusicMan BT-X59 once connected you will hear a voice say connected come from the glasses.

You will only have to pair the one time as the glasses come with auto reconnection each time you switch them on they will auto-connect. They do this with the use of Bluetooth 5.0 which offers a range of 8 meters.

You have a few simple functions with these glasses such as:

  • Power On/Off
  • Answer a call – Press the multi-function button once when a call comes in to answer
  • Hang up Call – Press the multi-function button once when you have finished the call.
  • Reject Calls – Press the Multi-function button twice when a call arrives and you will hear call rejected.
  • Play/Pause Music – Open your music streaming platform and with a quick tap you can play or pause your music.
  • Voice Assistant – A double click activates your smart assistant so you can speak to Siri or Google Assistant.

You will notice you do not have volume controls to adjust the volume you need you to use your phone which is slightly annoying. Apart from that the glasses act like any normal pair of glasses as modelled by my glamorous assistant below.

The Sound quality offers you the perception of ambient noise through which is hardly surprising considering they are glasses. You also notice when you have music on or are taking a call you get quite a bit of noise leakage. So be careful what your friend says over the phone as someone else might hear them and also if you jump on the train others might hear you playing the spice girls so consider your music carefully when in a public place.

The overall sound quality is a well-rounded sound but don’t expect much bass from these at all. When taking calls the sound gave me no issues and I can hear the person I spoke to and they could hear me perfectly clearly even when out on my bike and it was quite windy.

Battery Life in the BT-X59’s are reasonable they provide you with just under 5 hours of battery life and can also offer you 4 hours of call time if you wanted to speak to someone for that long they will do the job.

Verdict

So Technaxx has done it again with the Musicman Sound Glasses Sport BT-X59 that have used innovation to turn something simple like a pair of sunglasses and take the technology from a pair of True Wireless headphones and blend together.

Musicman Sound Glasses Sports BT-X59

Its a fun product and personally I like the style of the glasses but it would be nice if you could have a few other designs available and the only slight negatives for me is the lack of volume control and when you have a call if would be good if it could tell you the name of the contact as without knowing who is calling how do you know if you want to reject the call.

At £60.99 they are not very expensive and if you always wanted your sunglasses to be smart in the ever-growing smart tech world they are not a bad investment. Especially if you want glasses to make you look like the terminator.
