The TWS market is just stacked with brands offering the latest technology from the likes of Jabra, 1More, Lypertek and Sennheiser to just name a few.

Recently we got contacted to review the SuperEQ S1 overhead headphones & Q2 Pro TWS. Now you might be wondering who is Super EQ? Well, they are actually a sub-brand of OneOdio and you might remember reading our reviews of the A30 ANC, A71 & Studio Hi-Fi.

In this review, we focus on the SuperEQ Q2 Pro Hybrid ANC TWS Earbuds which are currently £69.99 from Amazon.

First Impressions/Unboxing

As you might expect considering the cost my expectations were set quite low and the packaging did not help raise the expectations I had. They come in a cardboard box with the image of the buds on the front and a list of the spec & contents. I would have liked a bit more effort when it comes to packaging it might put some potential buyers off as they appear cheap looking.

Once you open up the packaging you will get the earbuds inside the charging case then under then you get a user guide, 3 pairs of silicone eartips (S, M, L), USB-C charge cable.

The Q2 Pro is a pair of wireless earbuds that offer Hybrid ANC, Touch control, 30 hours playtime and transparency mode. Let’s see if they are worth the purchase and how they stack up.

Design

The SuperEQ Q2 Pro fits in your ears by pushing them into the ear canal and as long as you have the right ear tip fitted this will help with the isolation from unwanted outside noise.

The earbuds are made of plastic and have a rather cool style to them with the SuperEQ logo printed on the buds.

The earbuds are operated using touch controls and you simply touch the outer surface of the bud to trigger a control. The controls allow you to do the following:

  • Answer/Reject a call
  • Play/Pause
  • Track control
  • Voice assistant
  • ANC Mode
  • Transparency Mode

Learning the controls will become second nature if you are used to earbuds or will take a couple of days to master if you are not used to this type of control it’s just a series of different taps and long presses. The only negative is the controls are missing volume control and you will need to get out your phone to adjust the volume.

The Charging Case

The charging case as you might expect considering the price is made of tough plastic and size-wise they will fit in your pocket with ease.  The case has a battery size of 370 mAh with the buds holding 55mAh.

The case has the SuperEQ logo on the top of the case and a USB-C charge port to the rear. The lid on the case also has a magnetic lid that keeps the case closed when not in use. The magnetic seal worked well as they survived the shake test just. Last but not least the charging case also has 3 LEDs on the front of the case which indicates the amount of charge left in the case and also shows you when they are fully charged. Charging time takes about two & a half hours to fully charge.

In terms of battery life with ANC off, you should expect 11 hours with volume at about 80%. When ANC is switched on this will drop to 8 hours which is still impressive considering the cost.

Connection

The SuperEQ Q2 Pro uses Bluetooth 5.2 and offers a range of 10 metres and is connected to either an Android or IOS device which is quick and painless. I found the connection quality performed well and stay connected in most cases apart from when I walked through London Liverpool Street station but that has happened with many different buds I have tested so I was not concerned and the connection soon reestablished itself.

Features

The Super EQ Q2 comes with both ANC & transparency mode. The ANC is designed to reduce unwanted background noise and allow you to immerse in your music uninterrupted.

What did work well with these earbuds is the ANC it provided a good level of noise reduction when testing these I tried these while making my way to work from Liverpool Street to Shoreditch which can be quite loud in places. The ANC worked well reducing the loud background noise of traffic to just a gentle background swishing.

The transparency mode (Ambient Mode) actually allows background noise in and amplifies your surroundings. This is ideal when crossing a busy street or waiting for an annoyment at a train station. The background noise is let in via the built-in mics which are also used when you want to make calls.

Sound Quality

When listing to a variety of music over the last few weeks and the one thing you will notice right off the bat is the bass it does not take over the track but you will notice it. The bass is more noticed when your looking for that extra kick in your tracks.

Moving on to the rest of the sound profile the highs are clear and detailed but the mids are slightly recessed. This creates that curve profile that the lows and highs push forward but the scooped mid-range. This curve actually helps reduce harshness. This provides the listener with an enjoyable pair of buds. I also found the vocals sounded really good and sound lovely and rich.

SuperEQ Q2 Pro Hybrid ANC Earbuds Review

When listing to some dance tracks the boosted bass can feel a little on the boomy side which just floods the tracks with low end. Unfortunately, you are unable to turn the bass boost off and the lack of an app means you cant adjust the EQ either.

Call Quality

The SuperEQ Q2 Pro Hybrid ANC earbuds also allow for calls to be accepted or rejected when testing these the ANC prevented much of the outside noise being heard on the call and the built-in mics and when I was talking on the phone my voice was the only thing that could be heard.

They provide excellent call quality due to the clear voice capture technology. Your voice is picked up with crystal clear audio and this is further helped with both feedforward and feedback noise-cancelling mics. You will be heard nice and loud without any unwanted sounds making their way into your conversations.

Verdict

The SuperEQ Q2 Pro offers real value for money they offer some really good noise reduction when using the ANC they reduce unwanted noise up to 35dB meaning they can reduce 95% of the outside noise.

The battery life of the buds provides a strong eight hours with ANC on or eleven hours with ANC off and the case provides an additional 28 hours totalling 40 hours of listening pleasure.

In addition to that, these buds offer touch control are connected by Bluetooth 5.2 which offer a strong connection. Sound-wise they come with a 12mm dynamic driver that provides you with a high fidelity sound that allows you to immerse yourself in your music.

Considering the cost of the mixture of battery life, sound quality and ANC they are hard to beat at this price point.
