The True Wireless market is packed with brands all trying to get a slice of the action including OneOdio. We have reviewed a number of their products including the OneOdio A30, A71 & OneOdio Monitor 60 headphones. In this review and the next, we are focusing on both the OneOdio F1 & F2 TWS earphones.

Just in case there is a reminder of who OneOdio are:

OneOdio is a Chinese audio brand that has been focusing on creating quality audio products at affordable prices. The products they have created within the DJ & Hi-Fi sectors are what they are most known for. OneOdio is now available in over 30 countries and has also been very popular with Amazon in recent years.

First Impressions/Unboxing

The Oneodio F1 TWS are a pair of budget-friendly earbuds only costing £28 they are available in four colour options:

  • White & Black
  • Black
  • Pink
  • Grey

The packaging they come in is quite basic just a grey box with a sketch of the buds on the front of the box.

To the side, it indicates the key features:

  • HD Call
  • HiFi Sound
  • Touch Control
  • Bluetooth Wireless 5.0

At the base of the box, it provides the full specifications of the buds. Opening the box can be quite tricky to do so but once open you will find the charging case with the buds inside the case. Also in the box are a USB-C charging cable, user manual and Small & Large eartips that are not premium silicone but still feel nice in the ears.

Design

When taking a closer look at the buds they have been inspired by the shape of Apple Airpods which seems to be a popular design for many products in the TWS sector.  The buds have a similar shape to the 1More Comfobuds 2.

Considering the cost it will be no surprise you lack ANC but what OneOdio has done is focused on the passive noise cancellation due to the fit and seal.  The buds come with medium-sized tips on the buds but also come with Large & small pairs of tips. It’s very important you have the right size as this creates a near-perfect seal that is also very comfortable for long periods of time.

When testing out the passive noise cancellation when we had the hoover on and I was listening to some music as long as you have a good seal outside noise won’t affect you that much.  The buds have 10mm graphene drivers that are 35% lighter than steel drivers in other buds.

Touch Controls

The F1 TWS use touch controls and are very sensitive when taping to bring up a control. They provide the normal controls you come to expect –  Play/Pause, Previous Track, Next track, Call Answer/Reject & Voice Assistant that works with both Siri & Google Assistant.

Below are the controls:

Control  Left Bud Right Bud
Play/Pause Tap Once Tap Once
Previous Track Tap Twice
Next Track  Tap Twice
Answer/End call Tap Once Tap Once
Reject Call Tap Twice Tap Twice
Voice Assistant Hold for 2 seconds Hold for 2 Seconds

The only negative I have about the controls is the lack of volume controls but I guess if you want to control tracks it’s a sacrifice we can handle. You can always ask your smart assistant to increase or decrease the volume.

Charging Case/ Battery Life

The F1 TWS come in a charging case that is powered by a USB-C cable with the USB-C port at the bottom of the case. The case is well built with a magnetic lid and with grooves on each side of the case to prevent the case from slipping out of your hands. The case has a tight fit mould so the buds have a snug fit in the case.

On the front of the case has the OneOdio logo with four LEDs to indicate the level of battery life stored in the case. Below is the guide is what each LED means:

4 Lights 100 to 75%
3 Lights 75 to 50%
2 Lights 50 to 30%
One light 30 to 15%
Half a light 15% or under

The case has 300 mAh which offers 20 hours of battery life with 50mAh in the buds that provide 5 hours. When testing the battery life this aligned with what is stated by the manufacturers. When it’s time to recharge that takes 1 hr & 30min to fully charge which is a little slow compared to others brands.

Sound Quality

The sound quality of the F1 TWS is provided by the 10mm drivers that offer a 20kHz frequency. The sound quality is focused around the bass and the F1 comes with a solid bass that is fun-sounding and offers plenty of punch regardless of the track listened to. There is a good emphasis on the highs and the mids providing a forwardness that is very warm but does have to compete with the bass.

When listening to a wide range of music you will find the lower mid-range does sound a little distant at times and did have to fight against that strong bass.

A feature of the F1 TWS is that solo mode which others might know better as master & slave. The F1 pair actually use dual masters meaning you can flip between mono and stereo modes with ease. Allowing you and your partner to use a bud each when working out.

The F1 TWS can also be used for phone calls as well as music listening and the sound quality when on calls was nice and clear this was mainly due to the built-in Mics and the Bluetooth 5.0 which kept the connection strong throughout our testing.

Verdict

The OneOdio F1 are a budget-friendly pair of TWS that are well built, lightweight pair of earbuds. They keep to a simple design and the use of passive noise cancellation paired with a perfect seal help block out a decent amount of unwanted noise. It’s not as good as if the buds had ANC but at this price, it’s a compromise we can accept.

Audio-wise these are very bass-heavy and this, as a result, can cause impact the mids and highs at times if you enjoy heavy bass you will enjoy these but for someone who likes a more rounded soundstage, you might want to consider other options.

OneOdio F1 True Wireless Headphones Review

In terms of things, I would improve apart from the reduction of bass I would have liked the controls to have included volume controls but apart from that at under £30, it’s hard to complain. They are a nice pair of buds if budget is a consideration.
